Job summary

Legacy Engineering, P.C. in Fredericksburg, VA, seeks a Construction Field Technician (Part-Time) to join our Construction Materials Testing team. This is a hands-on, outdoor role on active construction sites to verify that roads, buildings, and infrastructure are built to spec.

We offer training and support to earn industry credentials. We hire for both part-time and full-time positions. No prior testing experience is required; training is provided and certifications such as ACI, VDOT, OSHA can

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Interest in construction, engineering, or field work.
• Comfortable outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 85 pounds and stay active.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Travel to construction sites in the Fredericksburg region to perform field testing of soil, concrete, and other construction materials.
• Work alongside contractors, engineers, and inspectors on active construction projects.
• Perform basic field tests using specialized equipment and industry procedures.
• Document test results and site observations using a tablet or field reports.
• Communicate with project managers and field supervisors regarding testing needs or site conditions.
• Maintain and properly use testing equipment while following safety standards.
