Job summary

OBR is seeking a Startup and Commissioning Specialist to plan, execute, and document commissioning activities for industrial equipment. You will travel to customer sites to perform data collection, troubleshooting, and inspections, ensuring proper integration with control systems.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and the ability to work independently while adhering to safety policies. 80% travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences or related field.
• Strong technical knowledge and hands-on field experience diagnosing electrical, control, and mechanical issues in industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with control systems, including VFDs and PLCs.
• Proficiency with computer-based reporting tools (Word, Excel, Project).
• Willingness to travel up to 80%.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and perform startup activities for new or upgraded equipment.
• Perform baseline vibration data collection during cooling tower start-ups and analysis.
• Collaborate with controls/automation to integrate monitoring systems with controls.
• Maintain detailed commissioning documentation, test results, punch lists, turnover packages.
• Provide training and technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
• Support continuous improvement of commissioning processes and best practices.
