Job summary

OBR is seeking a Startup and Commissioning Specialist to plan, execute and document commissioning for new or upgraded industrial cooling equipment across customer sites nationwide. This role requires hands-on testing, data collection and thorough documentation.

You will travel to diverse sites, perform VFD setup, vibration data collection, and ensure proper integration with control systems, delivering clear technical reports and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences or related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong technical knowledge and hands-on field experience diagnosing electrical, control, and mechanical issues with industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with vibration analysis and mechanical maintenance best practices.
• Knowledge of control systems, including VFDs, PLCs and related automation tools.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with computer-based reporting tools.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and perform startup activities for new or upgraded equipment, ensuring systems are properly integrated and calibrated.
• Perform baseline vibration data collection during cooling tower start-ups.
• Collaborate with controls and automation teams to ensure proper integration of vibration monitoring systems with control systems.
• Identify and resolve technical issues during startup and commissioning phases.
• Maintain detailed commissioning documentation, including test results, punch lists, and turnover packages.
• Provide training and technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
• Develop technical reports to communicate findings and recommendations identified during on-site data collection.
