Job summary

OBR Cooling Towers seeks a Startup and Vibration Technician to lead commissioning of new or upgraded industrial equipment at customer sites nationwide. You will collect vibration data, troubleshoot systems, and coordinate with controls teams to ensure proper integration and safe operation.

The role requires extensive travel up to 100% and hands-on work in data centers, refineries, power plants, and mills. Strong technical mindset and documentation skills are essential to succeed in this

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience in industrial equipment startup/commissioning.
• Strong technical knowledge in electrical, control, and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with vibration analysis and maintenance best practices.
• Experience with control systems including VFDs/PLCs and automation tools.
• Effective written and verbal communication; proficient with reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform startup activities for new or upgraded equipment.
• Perform baseline vibration data collection during cooling tower startups.
• Collaborate with controls/automation team for system integration.
• Identify and resolve technical issues during startup and commissioning.
• Maintain commissioning documentation and turnover packages.
• Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
• Configure and troubleshoot vibration sensors and diagnostic tools.
• Conduct cooling tower inspections and functional testing.
• Enter confined spaces and collect data; prepare technical reports.
