Job summary

OBR Management is seeking a Startup and Commissioning Specialist to lead planning, execution, and documentation of startup activities for new or upgraded industrial equipment. You will travel to customer sites across diverse facilities to ensure proper installation, testing, and transition to operations.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on field experience, and a proactive mindset. Expect approximately 80% travel and collaboration with controls, automation, and operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong technical knowledge and hands-on field experience diagnosing and mitigating electrical, control, and mechanical issues with industrial equipment.
• Working knowledge of vibration analysis and mechanical maintenance best practices.
• Familiarity with control systems, including VFDs, PLCs and related automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and perform startup activities for new or upgraded equipment, ensuring proper integration and calibration.
• Perform baseline vibration data collection during cooling tower start-ups and troubleshoot issues.
• Collaborate with controls and automation teams to ensure proper integration of vibration monitoring systems.
• Maintain detailed commissioning documentation, including test results, punch lists, and turnover packages.
• Provide training and technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
• Support continuous improvement of commissioning processes and best practices.
