Job summary

OBR is seeking a Startup and Commissioning Specialist to plan, execute and document startup activities for new or upgraded industrial equipment. The role requires hands-on field work, data collection, troubleshooting, and coordination with controls teams to ensure proper integration.

The successful candidate will travel about 80% of the time, inspecting cooling towers, gathering vibration data, and supporting operations with technical training and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences or related field.
• Hands-on field experience diagnosing electrical, control, and mechanical issues in industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with vibration analysis and maintenance best practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and perform startup activities for new/upgraded equipment.
• Perform baseline vibration data collection during cooling tower start-ups.
• Collaborate with controls/automation to integrate vibration monitoring with control systems.
• Identify and resolve technical issues during startup and commissioning.
• Maintain commissioning documentation and turnover packages.
• Provide training and technical support to operations/maintenance teams.
• Configure and troubleshoot vibration sensors and diagnostic tools.
• Conduct cooling tower inspections and functional testing to ensure readiness.
