Job summary

Terra Energy is seeking a field-based Survey Technician to support residential solar installations across the United States. You will perform on-site measurements, assess site conditions, and document data necessary for design and project planning.

As the eyes and ears of the operation, you will ensure the information gathered can be built efficiently and safely, working independently in the field while coordinating with sales, design, permitting, and installation teams.

Qualifications

  • Have experience in solar, construction, roofing, surveying, or a related field.
  • Understand basic residential electrical systems and roof structures.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Are able to travel locally on a daily basis.
  • OSHA 10, drone certification, or similar credentials (a plus).
  • Proficient with smartphones, tablets, and mobile apps.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site surveys for residential and commercial solar projects, collecting data for design and installation.
  • Measure roof dimensions, pitch, azimuth, shading, and structural conditions for accurate planning.
  • Review electrical panels, meter locations, and interconnection points for system compatibility.
  • Capture site documentation with photos, notes, and drone imagery (if certified).
  • Identify installation challenges such as roof damage, obstructions, or access limits.
  • Enter survey data into company software and CRM tools to keep projects moving forward.
  • Coordinate with sales, design, permitting, and installation teams to ensure alignment.
  • Maintain equipment and adhere to safety and company protocols.
  • Represent Terra Energy professionally during site visits with customers.
