Job summary

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience servicing mass spectrometry instruments.
• Experience with Waters Mass Spectrometry.
• Knowledge of HPLC and mass spectrometry theory.
• Ability to interpret service documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular maintenance and repair of Waters Mass Spectrometry instruments for customers, including pharma labs and research facilities.
• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs and calibrations on laboratory instruments and refurbish instruments as needed.
• Communicate with customers and account teams to troubleshoot, diagnose, provide repair updates, train end-users, and ensure full resolution of all customer needs.
• Promote the customer’s long-term interests by extending the life of their instruments.
• Establish fluency in service documentation (PM reports, IQ/OQ docs, etc.).
• Create and maintain customer service logs and documentation.
• Record service reports, time entries and parts usage accurately.
• Follow on-site procedures including GxP, safety, dress code, and SOPs.
• Represent and promote the Company professionally and assist the accounts team with technical support.
• Attend service training and contribute to training for colleagues; support R&D to expand service capabilities.

Job description

Our client, a well-established equipment service provider to companies within the life science industry, is seeking full-time professional field service engineer with mass spectrometry experience to service Waters Mass Spectrometry instruments in order to support growing demand for their laboratory instrument maintenance and repair services.

Must be willing to and have the ability to travel to customers throughout the New England area.

Responsibilities:

• Perform regular maintenance and repair of Waters Mass Spectrometry instruments for customers, which include pharmaceutical laboratories, research institutions, and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and calibrations on laboratory instruments as well as the refurbishment of instruments.
• Effectively communicate with customers and account team members to troubleshoot, diagnose, provide repair updates, train end-users, and ensure full resolution of all customer needs.
• Promote the customer’s long-term interests by extending the life of their instruments.
• Establish fluency in relevant service documentation, including but not limited to preventative maintenance service reports, IQ/OQ documentation, and other service documentation.
• Create and properly maintain customer service logs and documentation.
• Accurately record service reports, time entries and the use of repair parts.
• Follow Company and customer on-site procedures, including customer GxP protocols, safety requirements, company dress code requirements, and SOP’s
• Represent and promote the Company in a positive, professional manner.
• Assist the customer account team by contributing your technical expertise to resolve customer questions, troubleshoot customer issues, diagnosis potential instrument issues, and identify additional opportunities to serve our customers.
• Attend service training as required. Participate in and provide training and development for colleagues in your area of expertise.
• Participate in research and development to expand our service capabilities and parts network.
• Assist in refining and improving our documentation and training curriculum.

Key Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience servicing mass spectrometry instruments, and experience with Waters Mass Spectrometry
• Strong background in analytical instrumentation including HPLC and LCMS
• Knowledge of electronics, mechanical assemblies and vacuum systems.
• Understanding of HPLC and mass spectrometry theory and how to interpret service documentation
