Job summary

Mazak Corporation seeks a Field Service Technician Trainee to join the Western Service department in Gardena, CA. The program provides training to install, maintain and repair Mazak equipment, with duties including on-site servicing and travel to customer facilities in the LA area.

Successful trainees complete the training and on-the-job program and work under the Western Technology Center in Gardena, CA. Overnight travel is required to support customers and gain field experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.

• Mechanical and electrical aptitude essential for field service.
• Ability to read precision measurement tools and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Train in Mazak Field Service program and perform on-the-job training.
• Install, maintain and repair Mazak equipment at customer sites.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and software issues on machines.
• Test operation after installation or repair.
• Read blueprints and job specifications relevant to the craft.
• Travel overnight to customer facilities, primarily in the Los Angeles area.

Job description

Mazak Corporation is looking for a Field Service Technician Trainee to join the Western Service department. The Field Service Technician Trainee will participate in the Mazak Corporation's Field Service training program. Trainees will complete the program and on the job training to be able install maintain and repair Mazak equipment. This position reports to the Western Technology Center in Gardena, CA. Duties involve overnight travel from home to various customer facilities, located primarily in the Los Angeles, CA area. Travel is required.

Scope and Responsibilities:

Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
• Successfully complete Mazak Field Service training course and on the job training
• Successfully demonstrate ability to install and Maintain Mazak equipment
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and software problems on machines and accessories
• Test operation of machines and accessories after completing installation or repair
• Work with and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, and job specifications as it applies to your craft
• Learn new machines features and accessories
• Use precision levels to adjust the base of Mazak machinery
• Utilize various test equipment for trouble shooting purposes, indicators, test bars, clamp force, gages, etc.
• Travel is required. Assignments will require overnight or multiple night stay.

Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma required
• Trade school preferred

Skills:

• Mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to quickly pick up on technical concepts.
• Strong Mathematical ability.
• Ability to read micrometers
• Ability to set up and read dial indicators
• Use a multimeter to safely check AC and DC voltages
• General Computer skills
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a repetitive daily basis.
• Heavier lifting in excess of 50lbs on periodic basis
• Ability to problem solve depending on situation.
• Strong communication skills
