Job summary

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician to install, service and repair retail POS equipment and store systems across client sites. You will work independently in diverse environments and coordinate with customers to minimize disruption.

The role requires up to 100% travel, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to troubleshoot via phone and on-site. A high school diploma and 4+ years of related experience are preferred; IT knowledge and electronics

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with 4+ years of related experience, IT/Technical degree or certificate preferred.
• Must travel 100% of the time, domestic and/or air travel.
• Operational knowledge of PC technology, network infrastructure, flat panel TVs/monitors, POS equipment and related retail devices.
• General knowledge of wall-to-wall IT service and support.
• Mechanical aptitude with competency in electricity and electronics and proper use of test equipment.
• Ability to follow written or spoken directions and communicate clearly.
• Good customer service skills and ability to build positive relationships.
• Ability to multitask and work independently.
• Strong written and oral communication with tact and diplomacy.
• Understanding of IT signal and power cables and low voltage wiring.
• Self-motivated with strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
• Problem solving orientation and organizational skills.
• Willingness to work long hours in a physically demanding environment and varying shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operates in assigned territory and performs repairs and services on products; installs equipment in new/remodeled sites with minimal assistance.
• Travel within territory or nationally to customer locations for installations or service upgrades.
• Communicate status and issues to customers and management; build positive relationships with customers and store management.
• Plan, prioritize, and schedule work; arrange travel using approved tools and respond to schedule changes.
• Document installation activities according to Toshiba standards using automated systems and reports.
• Maintain trunk stock to support all customers and perform other related duties.
