Job summary

Starrett Metrology Systems Division — Starrett Kinemetric Engineering, Inc. seeks a Field Service Technician in a remote/field-based capacity. Install, calibrate, and repair advanced metrology systems at customer sites across the New England area and nearby states.

You will travel frequently, perform preventive maintenance, train customers, and produce accurate service reports, while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Able to install, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair advanced metrology systems at customer facilities.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight stays.
• Experience with vision systems, CMMs, or metrology equipment preferred.
• Excellent customer-service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, set up, calibrate, and validate equipment at customer facilities.
• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and complete repairs.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, software, and application problems.
• Provide on-site and remote technical assistance to customers.
• Train customers on equipment operation and software functionality.
• Complete accurate service reports, time records, and documentation.
• Maintain tools, testing equipment, and service inventory.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Product Specialists, and distributors to resolve issues.
• Support trade shows, product demonstrations, and technical training events as needed.
• Identify opportunities for upgrades, retrofits, and replacements.
• Follow safety, quality, cybersecurity, and customer-site requirements.
