Job summary

Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. seeks a Field Service Technician II to independently perform maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting on LV/MV power systems. You will own assigned scopes, support commissioning, and mentor apprentices on-site across customer facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical school or Associate's degree a plus.
• 5–8 years of relevant field service experience with LV/MV switchgear, breakers, ATS, generators, or related electrical equipment.
• Working knowledge of electrical safety practices including LOTO and arc‑flash risk controls.
• Proven ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and one‑line diagrams.
• Hands‑on experience performing transformer field testing (insulation resistance, TTR, winding resistance) and oil sampling.
• Ability to write clear field reports and maintain accurate test documentation.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable MVR; ability to travel as required, sometimes on short notice.
• Must be 21+ to operate a company vehicle; willingness to obtain DOT qualification when required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and testing on LV/MV switchgear, breakers, ATS, RPPs, and PDUs.
• Perform insulation resistance, continuity, contact resistance, and basic functional testing with minimal supervision.
• Support generator maintenance, load bank testing, and operational checks.
• Independently perform preventive maintenance and field testing on transformers (dry-type to liquid-filled) up to medium voltage.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control issues; escalate complex faults.
• Support commissioning activities including pre-energization checks and functional testing.
• Lead portions of job execution and mentor apprentices and Level 2 technicians.
• Document service activities, complete test records, and maintain punch lists and field reports.
