Field Service Technician - Automation Packaging Machinery

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, identify root causes, and resolve operational issues with shrink wrap and bundling machinery both in-house and at customer sites.
• Install and start up systems, including integration with other OEM equipment in the field.
• Train personnel on setup, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
• Perform mechanical and electrical modifications, including PLC programming, kit installations, and servo reconfigurations.
• Submit reports on installations, warranty repairs, performance, issues, and improvement opportunities.
• Provide accurate and timely expense and time reports.
• Communicate daily with the service coordinator to ensure completion and customer approval of all field issues.

The hourly rate ranges from $30.00 to $45.00.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 5 years' experience with packaging equipment troubleshooting and repair, including extensive Allen-Bradley PLC, servo, and HMI programming.
• Preferred: 2-year degree or certificate in Industrial Automation or Electronics.
• Experience with Allen Bradley and Emerson systems, HMIs, and temperature controllers.
• Knowledge of packaging equipment, conveyor systems, and mechanical, electrical, pneumatic components.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Allen-Bradley Compact Logix/MicroLogix and Panel View HMI programming.
• Experience with servo systems and motion controls, especially Allen-Bradley, is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 90%, including weekends as needed.
