Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking an entry-level Field Service Mechanic C to service HVAC, generators and pumps on customer sites. You will work independently, train on equipment and communicate clearly with customers while ensuring fleet remains in top condition.

This role offers hands-on maintenance, on-call readiness, and opportunities to grow with training and safety guidelines across our branches nationwide.

Qualifications

• Ability to read detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warnings.
• Own a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
• Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools.
• Must be able to be on call to support operational needs.
• A valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on all Herc fleet at customer job sites.
• Conduct oil changes, lubrication, tire changes, hose repairs, battery work and related services.
• Diagnose heavy equipment to ensure proper operating condition on site.
• Troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
• Recondition and replace parts to keep equipment safely functional.
• Stay current with Herc courses and relay guidelines to customers.
• Analyze wear and address issues before next visit.
• Follow safety guidelines at active job sites and keep areas organized.
• Produce timely service reports and repair logs.
• Follow all field procedures and protocols and build customer relationships.
