Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Field Service Mechanic A (Generators & HVAC) in Houston, TX to perform maintenance and repairs on our rental fleet at customer job sites. You will diagnose issues, service generators and HVAC equipment, and communicate with customers on best practices.

You will work independently, on-call, and ensure safety standards while building strong customer relationships. A strong mechanical background and toolset are essential for continual equipment reliability.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and equipment.
• Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
• Ability to be on call to support operational needs.
• A valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a consistent schedule of preventative maintenance on Herc fleet at customer job sites.
• Oversee and conduct oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and associated services.
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment to ensure proper operating condition at job sites.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
• Recondition and replace parts to return equipment to safe working condition.
• Educate customers on proper use of equipment to prevent breakdowns.
• Maintain a clean and organized jobsite work area.
• Produce timely service reports and repair logs.
• Follow all company field procedures and protocols.
• Build positive relationships with customers.
