Job summary

IEM is seeking a Field Service Lead to manage a team of technicians and engineers delivering startup, commissioning, and maintenance at customer sites. The role combines hands-on field work with leadership responsibilities across 2–6 active sites.

You will mentor technicians, resolve complex issues, and coordinate training, with extensive travel to customer sites and IEM facilities as required. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity in a dynamic power distribution environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, vocational training, military experience, or equivalent in power distribution systems.
• Minimum of 2 years of field service experience, with emphasis on startup/commissioning of electrical equipment.
• Experience with switchgear, electrical distribution systems, and electrical control systems preferred.
• Familiarity with advanced communication protocols and networking concepts preferred.
• Prior supervisory or lead-level experience preferred.
• Understanding of lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures involving multiple power sources required.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills required.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision required.
• Effective problem-solving skills required.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities required.

Responsibilities

• Lead start-up and commissioning activities for electrical equipment across multiple customer sites.
• Provide daily supervision, mentorship, and training to field service technicians.
• Serve as the technical lead, offering product expertise and advanced troubleshooting guidance.
• Travel to IEM facilities or field sites for training, factory tests, and shop testing.
• Identify project risks and report them to management for action.
• Complete project punch lists and ensure closeout documentation.
• Coordinate with commercial and administration teams for scope changes.
• Ensure technicians have tools, materials, and docs for on-site work.
• Report product or quality concerns and coordinate with engineering.
• Schedule additional field resources with management as needed.
