Job summary

IEM is seeking a Field Service Lead to manage a team of technicians and engineers delivering startup, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical equipment at customer sites. This working‑lead role blends hands‑on field duties with leadership of a team of about 8 technicians across 2–6 sites.

You will supervise daily activities, provide expert troubleshooting guidance, and coordinate training, tool provisioning, and documentation. Up to 75% travel is expected to support projects.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in power distribution systems or related field.
• Minimum 2 years field service startup/commissioning experience.
• Experience with switchgear, electrical distribution, and control systems preferred.
• Familiarity with advanced communication protocols and networking concepts preferred.
• Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
• Understanding of lock‑out/tag‑out (LOTO) procedures required.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Lead startup and commissioning activities across multiple sites, ensuring on‑time completion and minimal issues.
• Provide daily supervision, mentorship, and training to field service technicians.
• Serve as technical lead with product expertise and advanced troubleshooting guidance.
• Travel to manufacturing or field facilities for training, tests, and shop activities.
• Identify project risks and report to management for action.
• Close out punch lists and ensure documentation is complete.
• Coordinate with commercial and administration teams for requests outside the startup scope.
• Ensure technicians have tools, materials, and documentation to perform work.
