Job summary

Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM) seeks a Field Service Lead to manage a team of technicians and engineers for start-up, commissioning, and maintenance at customer sites. This working-lead role combines hands-on field work with team supervision across 2-6 active sites.

You will oversee start-up activities, mentor technicians, and provide expert troubleshooting while traveling to facilities for training and tests. Strong leadership and safety commitment are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, vocational training, military experience, or equivalent in power distribution equipment commissioning.
• Minimum of 2 years of field service experience focusing on start-up and commissioning of electrical equipment.
• Experience with switchgear and electrical distribution systems preferred.
• Familiarity with advanced communication protocols and networking concepts preferred.
• Prior supervisory or lead-level experience preferred.
• LOTO procedures understanding required.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead start-up and commissioning activities across multiple customer sites.
• Provide daily supervision, mentorship, and training to field service technicians.
• Serve as the technical lead with product expertise and advanced troubleshooting guidance.
• Travel to manufacturing or field facilities for training, tests, and shop work.
• Identify project risks and report to management for action.
• Perform start-up/commissioning on job sites and close out punch lists.
• Coordinate with commercial and administration teams for out-of-scope requests.
• Ensure technicians have tools, materials, and documentation to perform work.
• Report product or quality concerns to management and work with production/engineering to address deficiencies.
• Schedule additional field resources to cover service needs.
