Job summary

Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM) seeks a Field Service Lead to manage a team of eight technicians, overseeing start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IEM products at customer sites.

This working-lead role blends hands-on field duties with supervision, mentorship, and technical guidance to ensure on-time project delivery and high-quality workmanship. Travel to regional offices and customer sites may be required; strong leadership and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in power distribution systems or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years field service experience with start-up/commissioning of electrical equipment.
• Experience with switchgear, electrical distribution systems, and control systems preferred.
• Familiarity with advanced communication protocols and networking concepts preferred.
• Prior supervisory or lead-level experience preferred.
• Understanding of lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures involving multiple power sources required.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills required.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead start-up and commissioning activities for electrical equipment across multiple customer sites, ensuring on-time completion and minimal open issues.
• Provide daily supervision, mentorship, and training to field service technicians.
• Serve as the technical lead, offering product expertise and advanced troubleshooting guidance to technicians and engineers.
• Travel to IEM manufacturing or field service facilities to participate in or lead training activities, factory tests, and shop testing.
• Identify project risks and report them to management for action.
• Work on job sites to complete start-up/commissioning and close out punch lists.
• Coordinate with commercial and administration teams for requests outside the scope.
• Ensure technicians have tools, materials, and documentation for work at each site.
• Report product or quality concerns and collaborate with production/engineering to address deficiencies.
• Schedule additional field resources and teams as needed in coordination with managers.
