CBRE Group, Inc. in Cambridge, MA is seeking an instrumentation service professional responsible for advanced troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance of high-end laboratory instruments used in pharmaceutical R&D.

This onsite role collaborates with service teams and clients to ensure instrument reliability and compliance. You will install, calibrate, repair, and train staff, organize work processes, and provide technical guidance on LCAM/RCM-based decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of two years of related experience and/or training.
  • Seven years of experience in instrumentation and control or installing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing equipment.
  • Pharmaceutical R&D industry experience including making chemical standards and proper weighing, pipetting and verifying concentrations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced troubleshooting on specialty equipment and systems.
  • Supports product lines Agilent, Waters, Thermo Scientific; chromatography experience needed.
  • Performs instrument qualifications and calibration tasks.
  • Monitors installation, calibration, repair, and preventive maintenance per client specs.
  • Develops service and calibration procedures for specialized instrumentation.
  • Provides guidance on platform reliability and parts recommendations.

Job description

About this role

Maximizes the cost value proposition of high-end laboratory instrumentation by analyzing direct support services, vendor delivered services, and part management in relation to the life cycle cost of the instrument portfolio.

This is a fully onsite role Monday-Friday in Cambridge, MA. A company-owned vehicle will be provided.

What you’ll do
  • Performs advanced-level, scheduled and unscheduled troubleshooting/services on specialty equipment, instruments, and systems specific to the pharmaceutical research & development industry.
  • Product line support: Agilent, Waters, Thermo Scientific. Chromatography experience is a must.
  • Possesses the in-depth technical knowledge required for performing complex, analytical service procedures, instrument qualifications, and calibration tasks.
  • Assists the supervisor in monitoring and scheduling operations of technicians responsible for installing, calibrating, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical instrumentation according to client specifications.
  • Develops methods and procedures pertaining to service and calibration of specialized instrumentation.
  • Monitors instrument and part reliability; makes alternate service, supplier and parts recommendations.
  • Provides manager and client guidance regarding platform reliability and replacement, based on LCAM and RCM principles.
  • Organizes work processes and leads project assignments for instrumentation/calibration staff in order to fulfill contractual obligations to the client.
  • Reinstalls, tests, evaluates, calibrates, and maintains instruments or devices upon completion of repairs.
  • Documents daily records of inspections, maintenance activity, repairs, and other work performed within approved guidelines and procedures.
  • Communicates with customer staff and outside contractors in the calibration, repair, and operation of equipment, as necessary. Coordinates with outside contractors regarding repairs covered by maintenance agreements.
  • Provides detailed technical training and orientation to staff and colleagues on specialized instrumentation or techniques.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of two years of related experience and/or training. Degree preferred in scientific field of study preferred or equivalent related work experience.
  • Seven years of experience in instrumentation and control or installing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing equipment or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in pharmaceutical research and development industry including the making of chemical standards using appropriate techniques for weighing, pipetting, mixing, diluting, and verifying concentrations.
