Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Field Service Engineer I to deliver technical expertise for startup, maintenance, and repair of switchgear systems. The role involves warranty handling and support across a defined territory, with extensive travel and remote work flexibility.

You will operate under the supervision of the Regional Service Manager and stay current with new systems and technologies, while contributing to product quality and customer satisfaction in a dynamic field environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) preferred.
• Experience with power systems including switchgear, ATS and generator systems.
• Experience with automation and controls, including PLC-based systems, HMIs and distributed control systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform startup, preventative maintenance, testing, repair on generator paralleling controls and switchgear systems.
• Attend to 75% travel requirement and ensure customer satisfaction across territory.
• Assist and train internal technicians and external customers on maintenance and testing.
• Collaborate with Product Support Center to troubleshoot issues and promote products/services.
• Submit daily service reports and maintain project documentation.
