Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Field Service Engineer I to deliver expert electrical services for switchgear systems and generator controls across assigned territories. You will handle startups, maintenance, repairs, and warranty support while traveling extensively to customer sites.
The role requires a strong background in electrical engineering, PLCs, HMIs, and power systems, plus a readiness to train colleagues and support customers with technical recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; 2+ years of relevant experience preferred.
- Experience with automation and controls, including PLC-based systems and HMIs.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
Responsibilities
- Perform startup, preventative maintenance, testing, repair, and advanced electrical services on generator paralleling controls and switchgear systems.
- Travel up to 75% within the U.S.; provide on-site service and customer support.
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers; document service reports and keep records.
