Job summary

Pacific Biosciences of California is seeking an Engineer II, Field Service (PNW) to install, maintain and upgrade PacBio’s third generation sequencing platform at customer sites. You will train operators, ensure performance specs, and provide on-site support across multiple locations, with travel as required.

The role requires strong customer-facing skills, hands-on engineering and science background, independence with a team approach, and the ability to work across development, manufacturing

Qualifications

• Typically requires a minimum of 2–4 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 1–3 years with a Master’s, or 0–2 years with a PhD.
• Degree in Engineering or Science, or equivalent Military or other experience.
• Two to five years servicing or supporting complex electromechanical/chemical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, upgrade, and repair PacBio equipment at customer locations.
• Submit timely documentation of service activities and expenses.
• Maintain accurate and reliable service spare parts inventory.
• Work with sales and field specialists to meet customer expectations.
• Mentor and train new and less experienced service engineers.
• Develop and improve operating procedures and processes.
• Contribute to knowledge base and share solutions with Field Service Engineers.
• Provide feedback and analysis of field issues to product teams.
• Write and edit service documentation for procedures.
