The Senior Staff Software Engineer will design, develop, and deliver instrument control software for next-generation sequencing platforms, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and systems teams to ensure robust hardware-software integration and high-quality software across subsystems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in C#/.NET and Python.
• Real-time or embedded systems and hardware integration experience.
• Experience with robotics, optical systems, environmental sensors, or motion control hardware.
• Strong Linux proficiency.
• Understanding of software architecture and design principles.
• Experience in instrument control software, UIs, and system integrations.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs.
• Ability to drive complex technical projects from concept to production.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver instrument control software across subsystems, impacting performance and reliability.
• Drive design and implementation for high-risk areas with defined approach and risk management.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and systems teams for robust HW-SW integration.
• Identify and resolve performance, reliability, and scalability issues, addressing technical debt.
• Lead design and code reviews; contribute hands-on development in C#/.NET.
• Mentor engineers and influence architectural direction across the team.
