Job summary

GE Healthcare in Jackson, MS is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform on-time maintenance on medical equipment, including preventive maintenance and corrective repairs. You will assist experienced field engineers onsite and remotely, learning troubleshooting and installation techniques.

You will have a degree in Electrical, Biomedical, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience, travel for training, and must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or military equivalency is required.
  • Experience with Web applications and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Willingness to travel for training.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
  • Ability to work onsite at customer locations in Jackson, MS and surrounding areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and perform physical tasks.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb and stand for long periods.
  • Specific vision abilities including color, depth, and distance perception.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-time and accurate preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Perform corrective service and maintenance per instructions and bulletins.
  • Assist experienced field engineers onsite and remotely in troubleshooting, installation, and repairs.
  • Complete preventive maintenance, FMIs, and corrective repairs.
  • Communicate with teammates, customers, and other departments to ensure resolution.
  • Assist with sales opportunities and contract renewals where appropriate.
  • Maintain administrative duties including service reports, parts ordering, and expense submission.
  • Engage with regional and national support for escalation actions.
  • Build customer relationships and act as a business partner.

Job description

  • Perform on-time and accurate Corrective Service and Preventative Maintenance on equipment modalities
  • Follow Field Modification Instructions and Instrument Service Information bulletins
  • Work with experienced Field Engineers onsite and remotely to learn troubleshooting, repair, and equipment installation techniques
  • Learn to complete Preventative Maintenance, FMIs, and Corrective Repairs
  • Assist experienced field engineers with equipment installation
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and service repairs on designated equipment
  • Communicate and partner with teammates, colleagues, and customers to ensure resolution and follow-up
  • Recommend value-added services to improve customer business efficiency
  • Maintain administrative responsibilities including debriefing customer service reports, ordering repair parts, submitting expenses, and managing cycle times
  • Use the GEHC escalation process and collaborate with regional and national support on corrective action plans
  • Serve as a member of the account community for key accounts
  • Engage commercial counterparts, identify sales leads, participate in contract renewals and sales opportunities, and assist with revenue programs
  • Build customer relationships and become a perceived business partner
  • Monitor competitor information and market trends
  • Answer service calls independently within one year of employment
  • Comply with GEHC quality, EHS, compliance, legal, and regulatory requirements
Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; OR equivalent military education to an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree; OR participation in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship, Apprenticeship or Military Externship program; OR High School Diploma/GED and a minimum 2 years of experience servicing electronic or electro-mechanical equipment
  • Experience with Web applications and Microsoft suite of products
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License
  • Willingness to travel for training
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is not provided
  • Ability to work onsite at customer locations in Jackson, MS and surrounding areas
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods
  • Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level; flex/extend neck; and use good hand and finger dexterity
  • Specific vision abilities including color, close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
  • Preferred: Technical capabilities in OEC Surgery C-Arms
