Job summary

Graybar is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to grow our presence in California, developing new prospects and maintaining contact with established customers, visiting them at their business sites or other locations.

You will meet or exceed annual gross margin budgets by promoting products in your territory, handle customer issues, and keep management informed of market conditions. Extensive travel is required, including overnight trips.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years industry-specific experience; 4+ years preferred.
• 4 year degree preferred.
• Knowledge of business administration, sales, and marketing.
• Negotiation skills.
• Ability to learn our business and work independently.
• Ability to sell and be persuasive.
• Extensive travel required, including some overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed annual gross margin budget by promoting and selling products in the territory.
• Handle customer complaints promptly and report claims.
• Keep management informed of local competition and market conditions.
• Carry out sales and merchandise programs and recommend new items for stock.
• Maintain customer records and assist in past due collections.
• Participate in training sessions, trade shows, and sales meetings.
• Demonstrate products after sale when necessary.
