Job summary

Kiewit seeks a Safety Intern to support our safety program across North America, including Phoenix-area projects. You will learn regulations, participate in audits, and contribute to site safety policies while supporting teams in field settings.

Responsibilities include monitoring activities, recommending corrective actions, and helping with safety training and documentation. This internship offers hands-on experience and potential relocation to project sites.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
• Working knowledge of computers with Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
• Ability to work with all levels in the organization from craft to leadership.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing and overseeing the Project Safety Program, including development of site safety policies and procedures.
• Monitor construction project activities for compliance with regulations, client and company policies.
• Help establish and monitor safe working conditions and provide corrective action recommendations.
• Assist in safety program audits, coaching, and onsite training, and track performance metrics.
