Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Intern to contribute to our Project Safety Program across North America. You’ll help develop site safety policies, monitor projects for regulatory compliance, and assist in coaching and training on safety practices.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in construction safety, learn regulatory guidelines, and work with a team focused on delivering safe, high-quality projects. The role offers travel and relocation opportunities within North America.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study.
• Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements (preferred).
• Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Strong work ethic—Willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
• Ability to work with all levels in the organization from craft to leadership.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
• Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment.
• The ability to travel and relocate as required.

Responsibilities

• As a Safety Intern, you’ll help implement and oversee the Project Safety Program including the development of site safety policies and procedures.
• Assist in monitoring project activities to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Provide corrective action recommendations and assist in tracking performance metrics.
• Participate in safety audits, coaching and regular onsite training.
• Carry out duties in various environments and be prepared to relocate as required.
