Job summary

AdaptHealth is seeking a Respiratory Therapist – Ventilator Support to deliver specialized respiratory care to ventilator-dependent patients in home and alternate care settings. The role combines hands-on patient care, education, and collaboration with physicians to ensure safe outcomes outside the hospital.

Responsibilities include ventilator management, assessments, discharge planning, and staff education.

Qualifications

• Associates degree from an AMA-approved respiratory program.
• One (1) year of clinical experience as a Nurse with ventilator exposure, Healthcare Respiratory Therapist or HME Respiratory Therapist.
• Valid and unrestricted Respiratory Therapist license in all states serviced by the branch.
• CPR certification.
• Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and apply advanced knowledge of respiratory equipment, ventilators, HME products, and related payer and regulatory guidelines.
• Perform clinical assessments and reassessments, including review of ventilator patient records, compliance data, and care plans; communicate findings and recommendations to physicians and referral sources.
• Participate in discharge planning and execution for highly technical and ventilator dependent patients, ensuring smooth transitions to the home setting.
• Demonstrate and instruct patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on ventilator units, supplies, and proper equipment use.
• Provide clinical follow up with physicians and referral sources regarding patient status and tolerance of therapy.
• Conduct clinical in services for hospital staff, referral sources, and other professionals on equipment and clinically related topics.
• Adhere to all patient confidentiality, HIPAA, PPE, infection control, and hazardous materials handling requirements.
• Accurately and timely document all patient care activities, assessments, procedures, communications, and outcomes in accordance with company standards.
• Maintain complete and up to date patient records, including prescriptions, plans of care, treatment plans, delivery tickets, and required checklists.
