Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. seeks a Protection and Control Technician to install, commission, test and maintain protective relay equipment, RTUs, and telecom systems for HV substations and client facilities.

The successful candidate will bring 5+ years in electrical testing with protection and control gear, experience with SEL/GE relays, NERC CIP familiarity, and readiness to travel for project work. Ability to read wiring and schematic diagrams, document test results, and work safely in field

Qualifications

• Ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience in the electrical testing industry with a focus on protection and control equipment, RTU’s, and telecom with HV utility, co-op, power generation, federal, or municipal clients.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Technology in similar discipline, or Technical school diploma, or military experience in either Army Prime Power or Navy Nuclear electrical program.
• Experience with transmission and distribution relays to include SEL, GE, ABB, and Westinghouse.

Responsibilities

• Installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relay equipment, powerline carrier equipment, DFRs, RTUs, and communication processors.
• Functional testing for protection and control circuits for HV substations and equipment.
• RTU and telecom upgrades for various clients.
• Reviewing, documenting, and submitting test reports for client reporting and regulatory purposes.
• Interpret wiring and schematic diagrams and identify discrepancies.
• Complete time and expense reports and maintain the company vehicle.
