Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a field claims specialist for the National Catastrophe (NATCAT) team. You will inspect properties in catastrophe zones, assess damage, determine coverages, and manage the full claims lifecycle from start to finish.

Expect heavy travel, up to 80%, with short notice deployments. Excellent communication is essential as you guide customers through the claims process with empathy and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of related property claims experience or equivalent.
• Strong customer service orientation, especially in high‑stress situations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handles all assigned claims promptly and effectively, with little to no direction.
• Determines proper policy coverages and applies appropriate claims practices.
• Opens, closes, and adjusts reserves according to company practices.
• Maintains knowledge of insurance guidelines and product changes.
• Submits sever incident and other reports as needed.
• Delivers outstanding customer service and adheres to professional conduct.
