Job summary

POWERX is seeking a PCTest Engineer to provide Protection & Controls field testing and commissioning services across the Southern U.S., delivering safe, high-quality work for utility, co-op, and municipal customers. This role assists with the development of safety and compliance programs and strengthens customer relationships.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in electrical testing focused on protection and control equipment.
• Experience with transmission and distribution relays including SEL, GE, ABB, Westinghouse.
• Substation RTU and telecom equipment experience for HV utility projects.
• Familiar with NERC CIP requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing: relay protection, breaker, transformer, instrument transformer, and control verifications.
• Execute end-to-end testing and verify relay logic and trip paths.
• Review scopes of work, develop detailed procedures and checkout summaries.
• Determine project schedules and commissioning plans.
• Compile test results into professional reports and capture lessons learned.
• Assist with SME support and continual improvements in safety/procedures.
