Job summary

POWERX seeks a P&C Test Engineer to perform field testing and commissioning for protection and control systems across the Southern U.S. You will support safety and compliance programs, standardize processes, and strengthen customer relationships in a dynamic utility-focused environment.

The role requires 1–3 years in electrical testing, with proficiency in relay protection, testing of breakers and transformers, and familiarity with NERC CIP standards.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years’ experience in electrical testing with protection and control equipment.
• High school diploma/G.E.D. or higher; associate or trade/technical degree acceptable.
• Experience with transmission and distribution relays including SEL, GE, ABB, and Westinghouse.
• Experience with project scoping, scheduling, and budgeting for protection and control, RTU, and telecom projects.
• Familiarity with NERC CIP requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing including relay protection, breaker, transformer, instrument transformer, and control circuit verifications.
• Execute end-to-end testing and verify relay logic and trip paths.
• Review scopes of work (SOW) and drawings; develop detailed procedures and checkout summaries.
• Determine project schedules and commissioning plans; compile test results into professional reports.
• Ensure equipment is returned or stored properly; assist with SME support for other departments.
• Participate in recruiting events and training; maintain technical progression.
