Job summary

Gray Construction seeks an Assistant Site Manager to join the Field Operations Team on field/project-based assignments across the United States. The role supports the Site Manager, helping develop scopes of work, schedules, and cost estimates for self-performed and subcontracted work.

The ideal candidate has strong leadership and communication skills, the ability to read drawings, and experience in light/heavy industrial settings, especially food and beverage. Travel to project sites is required.

Qualifications

  • Requires Associate degree or equivalent; or 5+ years construction experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Experience in light/heavy industrial sectors, especially food & beverage, is highly desired.
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural/engineering drawings and financial/contract documents.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the overall Site Manager during off rotation for the Site Manager.
  • Assist in developing scopes of work for review and approval.
  • Assist in development and management of project schedule; prepare estimates for self-performed work.
  • May function as Site Manager for small projects (under 5 million).
  • Procure subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers; assist in bidder selection and price negotiation.
  • Review drawings on issue and maintain current set on site.
  • Coordinate planning, staffing, and on-site construction activities.
  • Ensure safety and quality standards on site; enforce Gray's safety program.
  • Prepare reports on progress, costs, and schedules; support customer satisfaction.
