Job summary

WM is seeking a field-focused Operations Manager Trainee to lead onboarding, coaching, and performance management for drivers and helpers. The role emphasizes in-field leadership, safety, and developing frontline talent while maintaining strong relationships with staff and customers.

The position requires a mix of office and field work with daily interactions across the front-line team, including documentation and adherence to WM standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree (accredited) or in lieu of a degree, High School Diploma (accredited) and two years of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure new frontline employees have tools, instruction, and feedback for successful daily duties.
• Meet with new frontline employees daily to support onboarding and consistent communication.
• Provide timely, consistent touchpoints with frontline employees.
• Review best practices to enhance daily performance.
• Support frontline employee career goal progression and development.
• Identify improvement opportunities and collaborate with frontline employees for success.
• Lead coaching conversations and practice feedback.
• Prioritize safety in all activities and teach the WM Way.
• Conduct root cause investigations for injuries and incidents with appropriate retraining.
• Document and maintain regulatory records (DOT and related).
• Review route operation docs daily (DVIRs, attendance, tickets) and follow up.
