Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Field/Base Network Engineer to support the SMIT contract and NMCI operations for Navy networks. You will lead a technical team, manage incident response, changes, and problem management while collaborating with government stakeholders to sustain network infrastructure.

The role emphasizes operations leadership in a large DoD enterprise, including COMSEC, cybersecurity controls, and O&M. Travel to assigned sites may be required to support mission objectives.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in IT or engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• DoD Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS.
• IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CISSP SSCP GSEC GICSP CYSA+).
• CCNA/CCNP or higher certification.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% including potential OCONUS travel.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting complex routing and switching issues.

Responsibilities

• Manage BAN/LAN/WAN network operations, troubleshooting, installation, and integration per approved procedures.
• Provide COMSEC Local Element support and asset management.
• Document site activities and keep accurate records.
• Initiate software upgrades and changes to NGEN-R system and communications infrastructure.
• Perform maintenance and repair of faulty hardware per SOPs and vendor guidance.
• Coordinate network upgrades with NGEN-R Program and stakeholder teams.
• Monitor network health and proactively mitigate potential issues.
