Job summary

Cox Automotive – USA is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II for DOT management and field service. You will perform licensed DOT inspections, PMs, and light repairs while working remotely in a defined region. A strong toolkit, DOT/compliance knowledge, and ASE T8 readiness are essential.

This role emphasizes safety, documentation, and high productivity in a mobile fleet setting. The position offers competitive hourly pay, with potential incentive programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field.
• The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; or 5 years’ experience in a related field.
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
• Obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
• This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
• Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
• A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in leu of a DOT physical.
• If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.
• Due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.
• Safe drivers needed; valid driver’s license required.
• Candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license, be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File.
• Class C Drivers License is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, DOT inspections and follow up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
• Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and confirm proper operation.
• Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle and conduct safety checks.
• Document work performed and parts used on Repair Orders using company iOS devices and TRAIT app.
• Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
