Job summary

S&ME is seeking a Construction Materials Engineering Technician in Atlanta, GA to perform field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials. You’ll document findings, manage data, and ensure equipment accuracy while working outdoors on diverse projects.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years of experience, and active certifications (ACI, ICC, DOT). Candidates should be flexible with schedule and travel.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials.
• Active industry certifications (ACI, ICC, DOT) as listed.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• Basic math skills with weight, volume, and units of measure.
• Willingness to travel and work a fluctuating schedule.

Responsibilities

• Project and document analysis: review specifications and record observations and test outcomes.
• Metafield application: manage data using field and lab information systems.
• Equipment maintenance: ensure field and lab equipment meets industry standards.
• Special inspection monitoring: follow IBC guidelines for testing and inspection of materials.
• Stakeholder interaction: report project status to supervisors, contractors, and clients.
