Job summary

S&ME is seeking a Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our Asheville, North Carolina team. This full-time role involves field testing and observation of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials at various project sites, with a company vehicle provided.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 5 years of experience in construction testing, active ACI and ICC certifications, strong communication and math skills, and a willingness to travel frequently.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 5+ years of experience in construction testing/inspecting soils, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials.
• Active industry certifications: ACI Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician; ICC Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils).

Responsibilities

• Project and document review: record observations and test results for soil, concrete, asphalt, and related materials.
• Metafield Utilization: manage field and laboratory data systems.
• Equipment maintenance: ensure field and lab tools meet industry standards.
• Inspection monitoring: follow IBC standards for testing and inspecting materials.
• Stakeholder communication: report progress to management, contractors, and clients.
