Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Specialist to lead on-site instrumentation installation, calibration, configuration, and troubleshooting for a nuclear fuel manufacturing facility in Utah. This hands-on role focuses on commissioning activities, mentoring technicians, and ensuring safety and quality in field execution.

You will calibrate and validate control valves, sensors, and loop performance, drive punch-list closure, and maintain calibration records with NIST-traceable

Qualifications

• Associate degree or apprenticeship in instrumentation/electrical tech, with Navy training accepted.
• 7+ years of hands-on I&C experience in process, chemical, power, or nuclear facilities.
• Experience planning commissioning: loop checks, testing, punch list closure, system turnover.
• Expert calibration and configuration of field instrumentation (flow, pressure, temp, level, analytical).
• Reading P&IDs, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, and instrument data sheets.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain field instrumentation.
• Plan, lead, and execute commissioning activities and document punch list closure.
• Supervise I&C technicians and coordinate craft/vendor resources.
• Own instrument calibration program and ensure traceability to standards.
• Configure smart devices using HART and instrument asset management software.
