Job summary

PerkinElmer is seeking an Instrument Technician to service customer sites in California, ensuring high standards of professional support. The role involves preventive maintenance, accurate billing under service agreements, and maintaining documentation across dispatch and inventory.

The candidate will interact with customers, operate service systems, and travel as required. Strong communication, technical skills, and a safety-conscious approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in applied science, Biology, Chemistry, Electronics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
• Experience using Microsoft 365.
• Exposure to analytical equipment and/or lab environment.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety practices.
• Experience in a CMMS (Service Max).
• Must have a valid driver’s license and operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide scheduled preventative maintenance for contract customers and remedial maintenance for non-contract customers billed hourly.
• Drive toward zero service recalls.
• Complete assigned preventive maintenance calls at customer sites within prescribed time frame and standards.
• Provide billing information to customers in accordance with service agreements.
• Maintain updated documentation around dispatch, inventory and service support functions.
• Upload/download data to ensure integrity of service systems.
• Manage company assets including vehicle, tools, equipment and inventory.
• Develop technical and soft skills to enhance PerkinElmer’s value proposition.
• Display strong written and verbal communication with peers and customers.
• Participate in company training and complete administrative tasks like time reporting and LMS trainings.
