Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician to diagnose, service, and repair electronic fire alarm systems at customer sites across the Raleigh area. You will work closely with customers and internal teams to resolve issues and ensure safe operations.

The role requires hands-on field experience with low voltage systems, reading blueprints, and ability to carry equipment. Weekend on-call and training responsibilities may apply, with opportunities to mentor others.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and manuals.
• Knowledge of test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to perform physical labor up to 50-70 lbs.
• Ability to work in ladders, scaffolding, and tight spaces.
• Flexibility to work weekends and on-call shifts.

Responsibilities

• Receive service calls and review issues.
• Contact customers to confirm issues and gather details for troubleshooting.
• Diagnose problems and repair electronic fire alarm systems at customer sites.
• Follow troubleshooting procedures using manuals and bulletins.
• Service and install Fire & Life Safety systems from multiple manufacturers.
• Read blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
• Communicate clearly with staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding and signatures.
• Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support.
• Mentor other service team members when needed.
• Provide recommendations to improve facility efficiency and address concerns.
