Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a field-based technician to respond to service calls and troubleshoot fire alarm and life-safety systems at customer sites. You will diagnose issues, perform repairs, and communicate with customer representatives to ensure safe, reliable operation.

The role requires reading blueprints and manuals, using test equipment, and collaborating with district staff. Flexibility for on-call duties and travel may apply, with a focus on delivering high-quality service.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
• Knowledge of test equipment, a multimeter, a digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose issues and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and related building system products at customer sites.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, schematics, software/systems, programs, and operational product manuals.
• Communicate consistently with district staff and customers to support a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding using smart phones and laptop computers.
• Participate in scheduled on-call rotation and respond to customer needs as required.
• Provide recommendations and solutions that improve facility performance and support upselling opportunities, including quotes when needed.
