Job summary

Pearce Services is a technology-enabled provider of asset management solutions for critical electrical and telecom infrastructure across North America. The OSP Field Engineer will gather precise field data, validate fiber network layouts, and support the engineering team on projects nationwide.

You’ll measure heights, inspect poles and conduits, read GIS maps, and document field notes while traveling to sites.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in the fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom construction industry
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Knowledge of outside plant activities and Make-ready issues
• Ability to read as-built prints and identify conflicts with existing facilities
• Familiar with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ESRI, and shapefile functionality
• Able to identify utilities, conflicts, and violations per regulatory standards (RUS, NESC, NEC)
• Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite; AutoCAD a plus

Responsibilities

• Identify, photograph, and document detailed information of required facilities
• Capture measurements of attachment heights, span distances, and centerlines
• Identify power and communication facilities on utility poles
• Record bonding, grounding, guying, and anchor information
• Deliver detailed field notes and photographs to the engineering team
• Identify obstructions and propose mitigation strategy
• Understand OSP construction techniques
• Read GIS maps, conduit records, and layout drawings
• Use measuring wheels, height sticks, GPS devices, and laser rangefinder
• Operate electronic devices for file sharing and communication
