Job summary

Pearce is hiring an OSP Field Engineer in Wichita to validate telecom fiber network designs on-site. You will collect field data, photograph facilities, and ensure accurate layout information with a focus on aerial, buried, and underground OSP infrastructures.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in fiber/telecom construction, GIS/map proficiency, and the ability to read as-built prints. Travel up to 100% and OSHA safety awareness are required. Pearce offers robust benefits and a company vehicle.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in the fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom construction industry.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and understand as-built prints, and identify conflicts.
• Familiar with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and ESRI shapefile functionality.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and pass pre-employment screening.

Responsibilities

• Identify and document OSP facilities and infrastructure.
• Capture accurate measurements of attachment heights and span distances.
• Identify power and communication facilities on utility poles.
• Record bonding, grounding, guying, and anchor information.
• Deliver detailed field notes and photographs to the engineering team.
• Identify obstructions to fiber placement and propose mitigation strategies.
• Read and understand GIS maps, conduit records, and layout drawings.
• Operate tools such as measuring wheels, GPS devices, and laser rangefinders.
• Use iPad/laptop for data collection and file sharing.
