Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a field evaluation engineer to conduct on-site evaluations for regulatory compliance and product approvals. The role involves documentation review, visual and mechanical inspections, and engineering reporting in accordance with NEC and installation codes.

Candidates should have an ABET-accredited engineering/technology degree, deep NEC knowledge, and experience with field evaluations.

Qualifications

• Engineering/technology degree from an accredited university.
• Expert knowledge of NEC, Building Codes, regulatory and conformity standards.
• Ability to apply project-handling concepts to complex or new products.
• Experience with electrical testing on products.
• Understanding industry issues and problems.

Responsibilities

• Independently determines project scope and plan; frequent travel for on-site evaluations; international travel possible.
• Initiates communication with clients and AHJs to explain services and negotiate requirements.
• Responds to client concerns and resolves complex issues.
• Represents UL at meetings and delivers presentations on code and certification topics.
• Plans and conducts code and regulatory related projects of major magnitude.
• Acts as Project Handler and Reviewer of record as assigned.
• Develops test methods and equipment for new product features.
• Performs other duties as directed.
