Job summary

WestLand Engineering and Environmental Services, a Trinity Consultants team, seeks an Environmental Compliance Monitor for the Southwest region, primarily supporting projects in the Yuma, AZ area. You will observe construction activities to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and project-specific plans, and provide guidance to crews in the field.

Responsibilities include site inspections, documenting compliance, and reporting findings to project management.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related field; high school diploma with experience may substitute.
• 0–2 years of experience in environmental monitoring or related work preferred.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Experience in monitoring, compliance monitoring, or related field preferred.
• Strong observational and documentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office for reports and documentation.
• Excellent communication with construction personnel, project managers, and regulators.

Responsibilities

• Conduct monitoring of construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit conditions.
• Monitor erosion and sediment control, spill prevention, and other environmental protection measures.
• Document inspection findings with photos and reports, and communicate results to project management.
• Advise construction crews on corrective actions for environmental compliance issues.
• Coordinate with project management and contractors on compliance matters.
• Maintain inspection logs, reports, and related documentation.
• Report environmental incidents or non-compliance to the Project Manager promptly.
• Assist in environmental training for crews as needed.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials on site.
• Assist in preparing final environmental compliance reports for project closeout.
• Participate in or complete biological field surveys as needed.
