Job summary

Bechtel Global Corporation in Brownsville, TX seeks a construction engineer to provide field engineering support on LNG plant projects in the US Gulf Coast region, with potential mobility to other units. Qualifications

• Work experience as a construction engineer, engineer or assistant superintendent leading to an understanding of the technical knowledge described above.
• Technical knowledge of a specialized engineering discipline, cost, scheduling and/or contracts administration relating to the construction of heavy industrial or commercial complexes.
• Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
• Ability to work in a active construction environment including walking rebar and climbing formwork and scaffold to perform required inspections.
• Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.
• Familiar with Bechtel's Business Ethics handbook and policies.
• Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.
• Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
• Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/ subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.

Responsibilities

• Reviews design documents and field conditions to support concrete construction activities.
• Prepares work packages, construction sketches, field instructions, and technical documentation.
• Assists with planning construction methods, sequencing, and installation activities.
• Coordinates with engineering, construction, quality, and subcontractors to resolve field issues.
• Initiates requisitions for field-purchased materials and equipment.
• Prepares quantity takeoffs and verifies installed quantities for tracking and reporting.
• Assists with material receiving, tracking, and forecasting activities.
• Ensures Bechtel's Zero Accidents philosophy and project ES&H requirements are implemented and followed.
• Verifies concrete construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, and quality requirements.
• Supports inspections, testing, and documentation for concrete placement, reinforcing steel, formwork, and embedded items.
• Provides technical guidance for concrete construction activities and supports resolution of field engineering issues.
• Reviews RFIs, field changes, subcontractor submittals, and inspection and test plans.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and construction practices.
• Supports system turnover activities, punch-list resolution, and turnover documentation.
• Coordinates with subcontractors to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
• Promotes continuous learning and identifies opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and work processes.
