Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services, Inc. is seeking Field Data Technicians to collect detailed technical information about electric utilities and telecommunications facilities. This outdoor role requires hiking between pole spans to capture data for outside plant engineering and fiber-optic construction projects.

The position involves routine overnight travel, usually 1-2 weeks away from home, with weekends at home and occasional longer stays. Training will be provided to perform all required duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and safety practices is a plus.
• Enjoy outdoor work in all weather and can perform physically demanding tasks (lifting 15–20 lbs).
• Proficiency with computers and reading GPS maps.
• Ability to travel and work away from home on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

• Work outdoors to collect field data supporting engineering and design of fiber optic facilities.
• Submit organized data for each project including maps, field notes, and digital images.
• Operate and maintain equipment (tablet, camera, measuring tools, PPE).
• Represent Osmose professionally in the field and with customers.
• Communicate daily with the project management team.
• Work safely and independently with minimal supervision.
