Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services, Inc. seeks Field Data Technicians to collect detailed data about electric and telecommunications facilities outdoors.

The role involves hiking between utility poles to capture measurements and supporting outside plant engineering on fiber projects, with training provided. This position requires routine overnight travel, typically 1–2 weeks away from home, with weekends at home and possible longer assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and general safety practices is a plus.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather; physically demanding work lifting 15–20 lbs regularly.
• Proficient with computers; read and follow GPS maps.
• Willing to travel and work outdoors in variable terrain.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Minimum 1 year outdoor work experience.
• Experience following safety programs or safety protocols (must provide details).
• Minimum 6 months experience in a quality-controlled environment (must provide details).
• Minimum 6 months traveling to various locations with overnight stays.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Collect field data outdoors to support fiber optic design and engineering.
• Submit organized data including maps, field notes, and digital images.
• Operate and maintain tablet, camera, measuring tools, and PPE.
• Represent Osmose and our customers in the field.
• Communicate daily with the project management team.
• Work safely with minimal supervision.
